September 2020: SDPTA CONFERENCE

Jake is now serving as the South Dakota Physical Therapy Association President. He was elected last September and spent the last year learning under our previous President, John Rounds, PT. Jake was also recognized as The 2020 Physical Therapist of the Year for his service and dedication to the profession, patients, and employees!

July 2020: CONTINUING EDUCATION

All of our therapy staff have completed a course on the Modern Management of the Older Adult. This course emphasizes that age should not be an inhibitor for treating patients (think 90 year old adults weight lifting for fun) and how to pro-actively work progressive functional fitness in to our sessions. We look forward to practicing what we learned...get ready to lift some weight!

November 2019: WELCOME LOGAN! 

Logan Lambrechts is a Physical Therapist Assistant who joined us this month! He will be working in Sioux Falls and Tea with Megan at the assisted living facilities there. If you see him, make sure to say hello and give him a big welcome! Logan has been a licensed PTA since 2015 and graduated from Lake Area Technical Institute. He enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and Viking football. 

November 2019: ADVANCED DRY NEEDLING SPECIALIST

Jake is now one of the first two certified Advanced Functional Dry Needling Physical Therapist Specialists in the world! This is a specialized treatment technique that no one else in our area has! 

September 2019: SDPTA Fall Conference

All of our therapy staff attended the South Dakota Physical Therapy Fall Conference this month! Jake and Zach attended a course on Cervical Spine Management while Megan, Chris, Chelsey, and Julie attended Teepa Snow's course on caring for patients with Dementia. 

July 2019: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Megan, Chris, and Chelsey renewed there LSVT BIG certifications! Since attending the course in 2017, they have been practicing the techniques with patients and have seen noticeable improvements in mobility, function, and independence!

March 2019: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Jake completed the Functional Dry Needling Applications training.

February 2019: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Jake and Zach have completed their Level 2 Functional Dry Needling training in Denver, CO this month.

November 2018: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Megan has completed her Level 1 Functional Dry Needling training this month!

 

October 2018: SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Jake was nominated for and voted in as the next President-Elect for the South Dakota Physical Therapy Association! Jake was instrumental in advocating for PTs in South Dakota to have the ability to perform dry needling. He continues to advocate for the profession to be more accessible to our patients. Jake has been on the forefront of change for physical therapists everywhere. We are so proud of you Jake! 

October 2018: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Amanda and Julie attended the South Dakota MGMA Third Party Payer day to meet representatives from your insurance companies and learn about upcoming changes for the new year! We work hard to verify your insurance eligibility and benefits and ensure your claims were processed correctly. 

July 2018: LUNCH AND LEARN

Mark you calendars for July 31st when For Life Therapy will hold a lunch and learn Dry Needling talk and demonstration.

July 2018: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Jake attended a course hosted by the International Spine and Pain Institute on Therapeutic Neuroscience Education. It was a fascinating course! 

Chelsey and Julie were in Sioux Falls at a course on the Behavioral Treatment of Chronic Pain this month. There were some interesting points made throughout the session on how to address and treat pain. 

June 2018: WELCOME LINDSEY!

We would like to welcome Lindsey Arbach to our office staff! She will be the new receptionist at our Watertown clinic location. Lindsey enjoys reading, family game nights, and spending time with family and friends. 

June 2018: SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

It is with great excitement that on July 30th South Dakota Physical Therapists will finally be able to perform Dry Needling!! Over the last 4 months the South Dakota Physical Therapy Association, with assistance from area Physical Therapists, including For Life Therapy's own Dr Jake Tesch, have been working with the South Dakota Legislature and the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners to pass rules and regulations regarding the Physical Therapy technique Dry Needling. For Life Therapy is proud to have 2 Physical Therapist, Dr Zach Lambrechts and Dr Jake Tesch, as Level 1 Certified Dry Needling Therapists.

April 2018: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Megan and Chelsey attended a course on Cognitive Rehabilitation and Memory Enhancement in Sioux Falls. They are excited to practice what they learned!

 

Jake, Zach, and Julie have also added another occupational health screening system to our clinic! This month, they completed their training for WorkSteps and look forward to working with area businesses on screening their employees prior to hire for capability, risk for injury, and ensuring they meet the physical job requirements. 

March 2018: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Julie attended HawkGrips Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) course at Lake Area Technical Institute! She is now certified to perform "scraping" and looks forward to using this pain relief technique on patients.  

January 2018: CONTINUING EDUCATION

Jake and Zach have completed their Level 1 Functional Dry Needling training in Denver, CO this month. At this time, Physical Therapists are not permitted to practice dry needling techniques in the state of South Dakota. Jake has been working hard with our state government and medical board to have this useful technique added to our practice acts. Hopefully they can practice what they learned soon! 

October 2017: OPEN HOUSE

Please join us October 12th from 3p-7p to see the updates we have completed in our Watertown Clinic and get to meet our staff! We will have informational booths, prizes, food and fun! 

September 2017: ASCEND

Jake and Amanda traveled to Washington DC this month to participate in the Ascend conference. They spent multiple days learning new rules and regulations for practice as well as ways we can optimize our skills for the best rehab practice. 

 

April 2017: LSVT BIG 

This month, our PTs Megan and Chris along with PTA Chelsey traveled to Minneapolis to attend the LSVT BIG course on treatment for patient's with Parkinson's Disease. They have returned with three certifications in this treatment technique. We now have a certified LSVT BIG staff members in Watertown, Brookings and Sioux Falls.
